At Sacramento State, Art is an integral part of our campus. From murals to outdoor sculptures to rotating exhibitions within our three galleries—Art offers dynamic ways to explore new ideas, connect with community, and unlock student potential. The University Galleries is a vibrant heart of creativity on campus, bringing together three unique exhibition spaces and a collection of over 1,000 artworks that tell powerful stories through visual art.
Our galleries are where local talents meet international artists, where students gain hands-on experience, and where creativity knows no boundaries. Our exhibition program showcases everything from student artwork to pieces by renowned artists such as Wayne Thiebaud and Dorthea Lange. With over 10,000 visitors each year, where Sacramento State students are our primary audience, the galleries are an important resource for teaching and learning.
The galleries are classrooms without walls, where students are gallery attendants, gaining real-world experience mounting exhibitions, working with artists, engaging with visitors, and learning the ins and outs of gallery management. And through our paid internships, students work directly with the Sacramento State Art Collection, creating a knowledge base for artworks through cataloging and research. Working at the University Galleries is not just a job—it is a pathway to a future career in the creative economy.
When you give to the University Galleries, you are giving students opportunities to grow, learn, and discover their potential. Your support helps maintain our Sacramento State Art Collection, provides paid internships, and funds visiting artists and exhibitions that inspire new ways of thinking.
Help us continue to power student success through Art. Your generosity can transform a student's experience and open doors to incredible opportunities. Give today and be part of our hive, our home—where the future begins.
Thank you for believing in our students and their creative potential.
