At Sacramento State, our mission is to support students as they grow from learners into professionals. We work to close social and educational gaps, ensuring that every student has the access they deserve. Programs like the Career Center, the Center on Race, Immigration & Social Justice (CRISJ), the Community Engagement Center (CEC), the Placer Center, and the Carlsen Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship are at the heart of this mission.
Led by faculty, staff, and student leaders, these centers empower students, celebrate the strength of diversity, and build meaningful community partnerships. Each program provides unique opportunities to help students reach their full potential and make a positive impact.
The Career Center plays a key role in helping students launch their careers. Through internships and essential career services, students gain valuable experience that bridges the gap between education and the professional world.
The Center on Race, Immigration & Social Justice (CRISJ) works to create an inclusive, welcoming campus that reflects the diverse experiences and needs of our students. These programs empower students to address social and educational inequities in ways that make a meaningful difference.
The Community Engagement Center (CEC) prepares students to lead and serve by connecting them with community organizations for hands-on learning. Through service and real-world experience, students are equipped with the skills they need to become active, engaged leaders.
The Placer Center
is bringing education closer to home. Many students currently face long commutes just to pursue their academic dreams. We’re changing that. By creating a collaborative space with Sierra College, we’re making higher education more accessible. Students will have the chance to explore six unique academic clusters – from forensic science to environmental sustainability, from public health to urban planning. These aren’t just classes; they’re paths to becoming change-makers in our community.
The Carlsen Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship
At the Carlsen Center, our students bring their unique perspectives and experiences together to create solutions that benefit our entire community. Through hands-on programs like pitch competitions, startup challenges, and mentorship opportunities, we help turn student passion into real-world impact.
Looking Ahead: Building a Future Together
As we look to the future, plans for a new Event Center aim to create a vibrant space to celebrate our students’ academic and athletic achievements. This central hub will foster student pride and bring our campus community even closer together.
Your support makes all of this possible. By giving to Sacramento State, you’re investing in students who are dedicated, resilient, and committed to making a difference. Help us sustain these programs and shape a brighter future.
Thank you for joining us in this mission – every gift truly makes a difference. Together, we are building a future of opportunity, innovation, and community.
