History

The History Department at Sac State invites you to help us build a better future for our students!

Our award-winning faculty are exploring historical topics with our students that have deep resonance in today’s world. We are actively engaged with giving our students real world experiences that build critical thinking skills and enrich connections with the community, all while preparing them for dynamic careers that make for a fulfilling life.  

Additionally, the History Department has secured the University’s first endowed chair for Colonial American History. Honoring the legacy of beloved professor, Peter H. Shattuck, the Peter H. Shattuck Endowed Chair for Colonial American History enhances the area of colonial American history through research and scholarly activity including symposiums, summer residency programs and enhanced curriculum.
