The goal of the Department of Kinesiology is to increase our students' breadth and depth of knowledge relative to our areas of study which include degrees in Exercise Science which include Health Fitness/Strength & Conditioning and Clinical Exercise & Rehabilitation and degrees in Kinesiology which include Physical Education Teacher Education, Athletic Administration, Athletic Coaching Education, Physical Activity and Wellness, and Athletic Care. The Department also offers a Master of Science with two concentrations of study: Exercise Science and Movement Studies. It is important for us to provide the opportunity for students to engage in scholarly activity that includes creative, critical, and analytical thinking, interpreting, evaluating and reporting published research, and designing and conducting research. We also provide a focus of study that will enhance career commitment and allow for experiences that will lead to continued self-development and growth. Ours students leave our program prepared to be leaders in all areas related to the disciplines of Kinesiology.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic our program and our students have had to adapt to a new way of learning. There have been changes in internship sites, classes have moved to a virtual setting and course work that requires engagement with the public has been postponed. This shift has been challenging for our students but the Department of Kinesiology will persevere and is committed to helping our students be successful during this time of adversity.
Please consider supporting the Department of Kinesiology’s General Fund. This fund allows the department chair to allocate funds to the greatest needs in the Department—and during these times those needs are focused on our students. So many students are experiencing financial hardship due to this pandemic and your support can directly and immediately help them. Thank you in advance for your support.
