The Department of Public Health prepares students to make meaningful contributions in regional health systems, public health networks, occupational environments, and clinical settings. Through its university and community-based programs that involve a blend of physical, mental, emotional, and social dimensions of learning, the program prepares engaged and knowledgeable individuals to enhance community health and enrich the quality of life. We train the future public health work force, and during times like these we are reminded how important public health is. Our students will go on to be professionals aimed at preventing illness and disease and will educate a workforce driven to protect the most health vulnerable communities in California and beyond. The Department of Public Health at Sacramento State is hard at work shaping the health leaders of tomorrow for the protection and improvement of the health for all, and we will continue to remain committed to our mission.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic our program and our students have had to adapt to a new way of learning. Prior to this pandemic students were engaging in classrooms with their professors and classmates and interacting with the community through internships. All of this has transitioned to virtual settings. This shift has been challenging for our students but they are managing. The Department of Public Health will persevere and is committed to helping our students be successful during this time of adversity.
Please consider supporting the Department of Public Health’s General Fund. This fund allows the department chair to allocate funds to the greatest needs in the Department—and during these times those needs are focused on our students. Ensuring our students’ needs are met and they that receive the best education is our top priority. Thank you in advance for your support.
