The University Galleries is an important cultural resource for visual art at Sacramento State and includes 3 exhibition spaces on campus: the Library Gallery, Robert Else Gallery and the JW and Joyce Witt Gallery. Our mission is to generate dynamic art experiences that inspire new thinking about art and the world. Each of our galleries draws on the collaborative and multidisciplinary ethos of Sacramento State and is a catalyst for student learning and community engagement.
The galleries are open to students, faculty, staff, and our surrounding communities during the academic year. We showcase work by regional, national, and international artists as well as work by our student artists. In addition, our programming includes on-line exhibits through out website as well as virtual and in-person events for artist lectures and discussions.
The University Galleries is also the caretaker of the Art Department Art Collection which includes over 500 artworks from artists well-known as Pablo Picasso to local legend Wayne Thiebaud.
