At the Carlsen Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Sacramento State, interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary educational experiences nurture innovative and entrepreneurial solutions to complex issues facing our society.
The Carlsen Center is a driver not just at Sacramento State, but in the regional economy as well. Entrepreneurs, innovators, and creators develop businesses and organizations that have a positive influence and impact on community health and the business environment. Celebrating and embracing the diversity of the region is also essential and part of the mission of the Center.
Primary focus of the Center is on the students of Sacramento State. Like the Center’s primary donors, Dale and Katy Carlsen, the Center strives to create many more entrepreneurs and innovators who are “Made at Sac State.” To maximize the reach and impact of the Center, K-12, college, community, and economic development programs are also offered by the Center.
“Giving back is something we firmly believe in. One of the concepts that we really want to grow and teach in entrepreneurship is the power of giving back. The more you give, the more you get, it is so true. We have seen it in action, and we hope to build that here as well.” - Dale Carlsen
“I would like to encourage all the students at Sac State to consider social entrepreneurship as part of this as well. As the Center grows and as ideas grow, keep thinking along those lines. I am so grateful to be a part of this and think this is going to be an amazing opportunity for this community.” – Katy Carlsen
