We are a community of teachers, scholars, writers, students, staff, and alumni who embrace, love, and promote learning in composition, creative writing, English education, linguistics, literature, film, and the teaching of English as a second language.
This year we celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Dominic Bazzanella Literary Awards.
- Since it origins, over 420 Sacramento State writers have been awarded a prize in the Bazzanella Awards.
- For many of the awards winners, the Bazzanella award represented their first paid publication ... but not their last!
- Many of our winners have gone on to teach creative writing and publish their works; all of them know what it means to succeed as a writer.
The Dominic Bazzanella Literary Awards represent just one way we fulfill our mission to embrace and promote learning in all our disciplines: our department is dedicated to passionate teaching and limitless opportunities for our students to grow by engaging with culture, language, and writing.
