Welcome to the College of Arts & Letters, #funcollege!
Our faculty, staff, and students are deeply committed to the study, creation, and celebration of the arts and humanities, and are receiving national and international recognition for it! Students in Arts & Letters—our majors, as well as all of the students who take our courses as part of their general education—are the next generation of citizen-leaders, able to engage in both critical and creative thinking. They are intellectually and culturally curious, great communicators (in multiple languages), artists and art lovers.
This past year, we've worked hard on establishing ourselves as part of a Creative Compact—partnering with other community arts and cultural organizations to improve the lives of our neighbors, the economy of the region, and K-12 access to arts education. #Poppy, a wonderfully playful work of public art, conceived and fabricated by student artists Christopher Duffy and Tiffany Ann Boddeker, sits proudly on the roundabout on Ramona Avenue, while students, Ni’mat Laila Amatulah (Theatre & Dance) and Ardalan Gharachorloo (School of Music) are working with the CREAtE team to stage two events in District 6. Our well-known and beloved String Project continues to provide our students with the opportunity to teach younger students in schools where Music Education is not available.
With your donations, the College of Arts & Letters can continue to provide scholarship support for our students, innovative curriculum, outstanding faculty scholarship and creative activity, and the facilities and equipment for cutting edge learning environments and performance spaces.
