At Sacramento State, we are proud to be the oldest nationally accredited program of Recreation Administration in the CSU System, and our program was recently awarded another 7 years national accreditation with the Council on Accreditation of Recreation, Parks, Tourism and Related Professions. Our majors include Recreation Administration, Recreation Therapy, and Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM). We also offer two rapidly growing minors in Recreation Management and Non-Profit Management, and in fall 2023 we will offer two more minors, in Park Management and HTM Management. Students can also earn certificates in event planning, natural resources administration, outdoor adventure administration and non-profit administration. For 70 years, our department has been graduating our leaders in community and outdoor recreation management, event planning, non-profit agencies and so much more. Our programs provide students with exciting, broad-based curricula that include both stimulating in-class coursework and practical out-of-class field experiences that build our students' skills to lead recreation and leisure activities to the great benefit of our Sacramento region.
As we return to campus after living in a virtual world for two years, we are eager for face-to-face experiences. Our students’ education has and will always be our top priority, and the department has been working to help all students during this transitory time. Students’ lives and way of learning has changed, and supporting the Recreation, Parks and Tourism Administration’s general fund will help our students thrive. We need your support. This fund allows the department chair to allocate funds to the greatest needs in the Department—and during these times those needs are focused on our students.
