The College of Continuing Education (CCE) at Sacramento State offers two first responder education programs for students interested in careers as EMTs and Paramedics. We are proud to be the first and only California State University campus to offer a paramedic program. While these first responder programs have been in existence since 2009, many potential learners are prevented from applying because traditional financial aid is not available for students enrolled in these programs.
For example, the Paramedic program costs approximately $15,000 and, unfortunately, that creates a barrier for many who are interested in entering this field. CCE now offers scholarships to applicants who would otherwise not be able to pursue this educational program.
Both programs ensure qualified and exceptionally prepared graduates through the use of intensive, hands-on learning. Learners work in small groups, testing their skills on interactive simulation manikins and one another. Instructors help narrate throughout various scenarios, throwing in curveballs to challenge students' knowledge. Supplies such as tourniquets interactive manikins, defibrillators, backboards, catheters, trauma dressing, and simulation software and equipment, along with copious amounts of personal protective equipment, prepare learners for emergency responses in the future.
Your gift to support scholarships and supplies for CCE’s first responder programs provides opportunities for individuals to complete their education in this high demand field.
