65th Street Corridor: The 65th Street Corridor Project is a high-impact and multi-component community effort aimed at increasing student academic achievement, fostering student leadership, and improving parent participation for children living in neighborhoods where gang violence, a lack of access to resources and low civic engagement create a need for innovative, culturally competent strategies.
Every year, the 65th Street Corridor invites Sacramento State students taking Ethnic Studies and Sac State Ethnic Studies majors to engage in this community service as a means of gaining practical leadership experiences, while providing meaningful and high impact service to the community. This project centers on the idea that life opportunities are directly linked to gaining access and engaging educational opportunities.
Bushy Lake Restoration Project: Beginning in 2015, the Bushy Lake Project seeks to contribute to the conservation of Bushy Lake, which is located on the lower American River Parkway, near Cal Expo. Since its inception, the project has flourished into an ongoing eco-cultural restoration project! Our Sacramento State students are able to join this project, to gain hands-on experience learning about wildlife habitats, culturally significant plants, and recreation.
