The College of Continuing Education (CCE) at Sacramento State offers a variety of first responder educational programs, including Paramedic and EMT courses. While these programs have been in existence for 10 years, many potential learners are prevented from applying because traditional financial aid is not available for students enrolled in these programs.
For example, the Paramedic program costs approximately $13,500 and, unfortunately, that creates a barrier for many who are interested in entering this field. CCE now offers scholarships to program applicants who would otherwise not be able to pursue this educational program, which is the only Paramedic course offered in the entire CSU system.
Both first responder programs ensure qualified and exceptionally prepared graduates through the use of intensive, hands-on learning. Learners work in small groups, testing their freshly minted skills on robotic mannequins and one another. The instructor helps narrate throughout various scenarios, throwing in curveballs to challenge students knowledge. Supplies such as gauze, interactive mannequins, defibrillators, catheters, and backboards, along with copious amounts of PPE, prepare learners for emergency responses in the future.
Your gift to support scholarships and supplies for CCE’s first responder programs provides opportunities for individuals to complete their education in this demanding field.
